The incident took place in Bridgeport around 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 17, at 100 Fairfield Ave.
Police responded to the offices on a report of a man smoking marijuana in the building, and then threatening a security guard with a gun after he was ordered to leave, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport.
Several minutes later, the suspect, Earl Livingston Williams, of Bridgeport, was located at the corner of Main Street and John Street. He was found in possession of what turned out to be a stolen firearm, and was taken into custody, Appleby said.
Williams is a convicted felon and is on probation.
Williams was charged with:
- Threatening
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Carrying a pistol without a permit
- Illegal transfer/sale of a pistol
- Criminal trespass
- Disorderly conduct
He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
